Benzie Area Historical Society presents -”Tragedy” and the “Comedy” of Crystal Lake, and the Role of Archibald Jones by Dr. Stacy Daniels

4pm, at the Benzie Area Historical Museum. The Benzie Area Historical Society continues its Benzonia Academy Lecture Series with The Tragedy and the Comedy of Crystal Lake. This lecture was presented last August also. Thru contemporary accounts, recorded legend, and scientific evidence, Dr. Daniels of the Crystal Lake Watershed Association, pinpoints the date and circumstances of the historic event that today defines the Benzie Area. New research now provides a complete biographical sketch of Archibald Jones, the man credited, or blamed, for the lake’s
lowering. Benzonia Academy lecture series is named after the Benzonia
Academy, which was to “afford to both sexes, without distinction of color, the opportunity of acquiring a liberal education.”  Through this series of lectures, the Benzie Area Historical Society hopes to continue the tradition of the Academy.  The admission is free, but a $5 suggested donation is appreciated.231-882-5539
