The Annual Blues at the Bluebird concert will be held on Saturday February 19. Enjoy a buffet dinner at 6:30 pm, concert at 8:00pm and the sounds of Mississippi Heat from Chicago. What’s up in Northern Michigan? Looking to next weekend there is a Comedy Festival, Micro Brew Festival, Vasa Ski Race and Fireworks on Crystal Lake. Details to come for you’re Valentine’s Weekend. Sunday’s are just sort of a lazy day. If you’re not one for being outside a trip to the Park’s Visitor center is a nice way to spend the afternoom. It’s not that busy, like in the summer! So here’s what’s going on at the visitor’s center.
Special Programs: A free slide presentation, “Dreams of the Sleeping Bear,” offers a beautiful mix of photography, music and narration, while providing an initial orientation to the park.
Exhibits: Museum exhibits explore the geologic, natural history, and human stories of the park. An interactive touch-screen kiosk and large relief map provide general park information.
Facilities: Eastern National Bookstore/sales area. Public restrooms, water fountain, pay phone (portable TTY available), assistive listening device at the information desk, closed captioning for the orientation slide show.(from the www.nps.gov/slbe website) Enjoy your day.
Happy Groundhog Day! Well, I was wrong the Groundhog didn’t see his shadow today so Spring is coming early! Most likely a happy note for all. Lift your spirits this weekend after the arctic blast by enjoying some art and wine!
Glen Arbor Art Association kicks off the “Taste the Passion” wine tour weekend. The Homestead Resort in Glen Arbor is hosting the wine and art open house at Mountain Flowers Lodge, with small plate tapas paired with wines from throughout the peninsula. This Event will benefit the Glen Arbor Art Association for class scholarship and their school art program. Homestead is offering a package with the event call 231-334-5000 for details at the Resort. Ticket available at the door for $20 6-8 PM (Friday) the Lodge is located in the Village area at the Resort.

What’s up this weekend? This sounds like alot of fun! The Sleeping Bear Community does alot in Traverse City, it’s our local Hub! So occassionally locals and visitors (ususally a rainy day in the summer)will head to TC! So I suggest heading to TC Day and take advantage of this fun event. Chili just sounds good this time of year!

My I sugguest this weekend that you go for a snowshoe hike! My daughter went over the holidays and enjoyed it. Great exercise, fresh air and a great way to see the park and some wildlife! The snowshoe hikes run every Saturday and Sunday in January and February from 1-3pm in the afternoon. You will need a park pass for this. Meet your park guide at 1:00 at the visitors center on M-72 in Empire. If you have any questions here is the number to call 231-326-5134 x328. Have a great time!
