Snowshoe Hikes
Saturdays at the Lakeshore
Join a ranger for a different program every week. Topics and trails vary throughout the year to highlight the natural wonders and historic importance of the National Lakeshore. Meet at the visitor center first, then travel to the trail. When conditions are right, snowshoe walks are presented and snowshoes are loaned for free. Reservations are not required, but are suggested if you bring a group or need snowshoes in winter. Call 231-326-5134 x328 for details.

Jan 7 Green Point Preserve 11AM in Elbert, MI 2.5 miles through wood and hills with spectacular viewing continuing down to Lake Michigan.

Music provided by Bo Bossa a local a four piece ensemble that plays swing, jazz, blues, Latin, fusion and whatever else they feel like playing! The stores involved will provide refreshments and stay open late.
Friday July 15th
Join Sleeping Bear Surf and Kayak in Downtown Empire Open Space at dusk for a free movie!
Saturday July 16th
ANCHOR DAY FUN RUN 9 AM
Registration begins at 8:45 at the picnic pavilion on Empire beach.The first 30 competitors will receive a free T-shirt!
EMPIRE ANCHOR DAY PARADE 2 PM
This years theme is “Anything Goes” so dig out those decorations and Join the Parade that is so nice it goes around twice. Parade Lineup 1:30 at Johnson Park
LIONS CHICKEN BBQ 2-8PM EMPIRE TOWN HALL
A half a chicken and all of the extras for an adult is $12 and a child sized serving is $6. Proceeds go to support local Lions projects as well as international sight and hearing programs and diabetes education.

WASS.U.P. 9 am Empire Public Beach (Weather permitting) Join Sleeping Bear Surf and Kayak for a stand-up paddle session.
