Deep Blue Water
Samba Batucada
March 6, April 3, May 1 (with a party or performance!)
|
![]() Deep Blue Water Samba Batucada is a newly forming samba drumming group based out of Traverse City, Michigan. Samba Batucada is a parade style of drumming from Brazil, using snare drums, bass drums, cowbells, shakers, and other percussion instruments.
Marc Alderman will be teaching Samba Batucada drumming at The Good Work Collective this spring. The class fee is based on a sliding scale with a suggested cost of $20. No one will be turned away due to a lack of funds and there are also work exchange opportunities. Please contact Marc directly if you are interested in a work trade. If you have never held a pair of drumsticks before, there will be a technique class from 7-7:30pm. A full ensemble class will take place from 7:30-9pm. Bring your drumsticks, drum pads, earplugs, tape recorders, snare drums, and any Brazilian percussion instruments you might have lying around the house. Instruments will also be provided. Deep Blue Water Samba Batucada School is great for: hand drummers who are interested in trying something different; drum set players who want to add a new feel to their repertoire; school age percussionists who are looking for a new ensemble experience; marching band drummers who want to add a little swing to their playing; and anyone who is fired up about Brazilian music or group drumming! No previous experience is necessary but come ready to learn. Details For more information, please contact
