“Soul Street Dance wowed audiences with mind boggling fast changing footsteps, front and back somersaults, cart wheels either one-armed or completely in the air, outrageous figures.” The Siegen Daily – Germany
The history of Soul Street Dance Company dates back to 1996, when they caught the attention of the artistic director for Fly Dance Company while competing for recognition in the Houston area. These self-trained street dancers became Fly’s principal dancers and helped turn the company into a national and international touring sensation. Under the direction of Javier Garcia and Rock Williams, Soul Street Dance Company presents a new era in dance. While pushing the artistic boundaries in street dance they maintain the true essence of the culture.
In conjunction with their concerts, Soul Street Dance Company offers educational and outreach performances that have taken 300,000+ audiences across the country by storm. The dancers – formerly considered at risk – inspire students and share how they found focus through dance and now are working professionals. Their performance is youthful with high-energy breakin’, poppin’ n’ lockin’, Brazilian capoeira and more – eclectic hip-hop moves and music for all ages!
With Breakin’ Back to School being the final show in the City Opera House Auto Owner’s Insurance Performing Arts Series, the 2012-2013 season is wrapping up with a family show that all ages can enjoy!
